In Western European academic traditions, fine art is art developed primarily for aesthetics , distinguishing it from applied art that also has to serve some practical function. Given this mini-epiphany, or realization that my plan was fraught with issues, what I decided to do today is give you my brief view or interpretation of the history of the School of Arts & Sciences and how it impacts the University overall—and then talk about how we can begin a conversation that will allow us to think of the School of Arts & Sciences as a cohesive, formative, and perhaps formidable part of the University that helps further the idea of ONE University.The arts represent an outlet of expression, that is usually influenced by culture and which in turn helps to change culture.  Key players included Jim Bierne (Chief Executive of Live Theatre), Margaret Bolton and Clare Cooper (authors of an important early paper, ‘Capital Matters`), Geoff Burnand (Chief Executive of Investing for Good), Danyal Sattar (Big Society Capital) and Tim Joss (formerly Director of the Rayne Foundation and now Chief Executive of AESOP Arts Enterprise with a Social Purpose).The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) oversees the city`s public art program, cultural partnerships grant programs, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute , and The Creative Advantage initiative in the effort to foster a city driven by creativity that provides the opportunity for everyone to engage in diverse arts and cultural experiences.  As a member of research and teaching staff of Jagiellonian University`s Institute of Philosophy and the Department of Theory of Media Arts Kraków`s Academy of Fine Arts, Sidey Myoo is involved in research into aesthetics as a theory of art, mainly in relation to contemporary art, including electronic art, and also takes interest in the philosophy of the network.Playing on the much coveted stage of Carnegie Hall is the stuff of most musicians` dreams, but if practice doesn`t get you into one of the most venerable venues of all time, now technology can.  Master of Fine Arts in Acting for Film : A two-year accelerated graduate degree program, the MFA in acting program is offered at our Los Angeles campus where students have the unique opportunity to film scenes on the backlot of Universal Studios while also receiving hands-on in-class instruction to help them develop their craft and navigate the challenges inherent to acting for film.Five premieres spread across a variety of disciplines, from theater to dance, are in store for the inaugural Tilt Kids Festival, a collaboration between the French Institute Alliance Française and Cultural Services of the French Embassy. In modern academia , the arts are usually grouped with or as a subset of the Humanities Some subjects in the Humanities are history , linguistics , literature , and philosophy Newspapers typically include a section on the arts. Performing arts comprise dance , music , theatre , opera , mime , and other art forms in which a human performance is the principal product.Thus it is related to the Fine Arts and Social Sciences, and even to the Natural Sciences in terms of human nutritious activity and digestive function. The Office of Arts & Culture envisions a city driven by creativity that provides the opportunity for everyone to engage in diverse arts and cultural experiences. Arts & Economic Prosperity IV demonstrates that the nonprofit arts and culture industry is an economic driver in Seattle—supporting jobs, generating government revenue and securing tourism. And with Google bringing these once-in-a-lifetime performances to audiences` homes, the heyday of the performing arts may be just around the bend.
